KOPALNA

Location: Lviv, Ukraine
Total area: 380 m²
Architects: Dmytro Yavorsky, Pavlo Yavorsky, Yuriy Salabay, Andrii Diedyk

The KOPALNA project is the reconstruction of a private house built on a sloping plot in the 1930s.
The existing two-story villa has been preserved in its historical volume and supplemented with a new one to meet the needs of a modern large family.
The first two levels of the house are decorated with light stone, while the new third level features contrasting wood. This division into two main volumes allowed us to unite the complex shape of the house after reconstruction visually and integrate it seamlessly into the surrounding context of low-rise estate development.
The entrance to the house is recessed into the facade and located in the center of the first floor, dividing it into 2 zones. The kitchen with a summer terrace is located in the historical part of the villa, while the new part features a spacious relaxation area and the owners’ bedroom.
The upper floor, decorated with wood, is a space for kids with a panoramic view of the city.
In the sunken basement level, situated within the terrain of the plot, there are a home office, a garage for several cars, and technical rooms.
